March haiku: Sunshine

The prompt or inspiration for the March haiku was   “SUNSHINE”

As usual I played around with words until I settled for

“Molten copper ball

In cerulean blue sky;

Surf tumbling on shore.”

Having established the picture in my mind,I set about forming my A4 sized quiltlet, commencing with blue lutradur fused to homespun.

The sun/copper ball was done by using yet again one of my favourite (home made) stencils and Expandaprint to form the sun’s corona.

After heat treating it, I gilded it with “Rub & Buff” and touched it up with a little Lumiere paint.

(Metallic Russet & sunset gold)

The sun was a wedding of silk,Angelina film  and organza layers

Then the sea and the shore were laid down……again I used Angelina , in fibre form to add some glitter to the water.

Initially I had a “solid ” reflection of the sun in the water………but, it  was too overpowering, so I reduced the reflection to mere slivers, and I think it works better.
