…..and the WORD is  CREATE!

I have had a slight deviation away from my planned CQJP2014 blocks, but only for the first days of March!

I needed to create a postcard with the theme CREATE, so what better than a creating a small CQ’ed garden. It was also a chance to try freshen up my stitching skills after such a long absence!

As you can see, I have used Cretan  and closed buttonhole on two of the seams as well as a looped running stitch. I tried adding a willow tree as well as a birdhouse to enhance the garden theme. Somehow, I think (hope) that the birdhouse will be more satisfactory on the larger patches in my CQJP blocks.

The face in the lower right corner was made with air drying paper paste (sorry I have forgotten the brand name, as it’s been in my stash for the longest time.

A mold of similar age was used, and painted with a Lumiere Turquoise paint.

To enable her to relate to the block, I encircled her with the same ribbon braid used as a seam treatment on the left of the block.

Glass butterfly, 2mm silk ribbon daisies, 7 mm flowers , buttons and squins were also used to fill the flower beds.
